Hi Friends! Many of you ask where I get the majority of my tools and props for baking sourdough, so I came up with this trusty list equipped with Amazon links in order to read more about it and purchase, if you would like. I advocate seeking these products out at your local restaurant supply store and supporting small businesses, but I know that some of you are more remote and so ordering online is easier. Either way, I hope this helps you and please let me know if you have any questions!! Happy Baking!!
Love,
Mary
BAKING VESSELS
Lodge Combo Cooker -- the handles make it easier to pick up and take off.
Lodge Dutch Oven -- can be used for making bread, but also soups, stews, etc.
US Pullman’s Pan — great for rectangle sandwich loaves
DIGITAL SCALE
Mira — I love this simple scale and have been using it for years.
MIXING BOWLS
Cambro BPA Free Container — this is a great container for mixing several loaves at a time. I normally mix my normal 2 in it, but you can mix up to 4.
Glass Mixing Bowl— great, simple glass bowl.
TOOLS
Dough Scraper — this wonderful tool is super helpful for mixing, shaping, and cleaning up.
Bench Press — this is a tool that is helpful to cut cold dough in half and also to shape dough. It is also great for cleanup.
Banneton — this is a wooden proofing basket that yields a lovely spiral design on your final loaf.
Proofing Basket — small woven proofing basket
Dough Wand — helpful mixing tool
Flour Wand -- one of my favorite tools. Used to dust brown rice flour or cornmeal on your dough before putting it in the oven.
COMBO PACKAGE — includes a proofing basket banneton, scoring tool, and dough scraper
Scoring Tool and Razor — this is the lame that you will use when scoring and venting your dough before you put it in the oven.
FLOUR
Organic Einkorn Jovial -- einkorn is the oldest strain of wheat known and it cannot be hybridized; meaning, it cannot be broken down during the milling process, so the bran, germ, and endosperm are left in-tact, leaving the flour much healthier for you.
Organic Bob's Red Mill Brown Rice Flour -- used primarily to dust your dough before placing it in the oven, as it is less sticky than using wheat or all-purpose flour. Cornmeal is also another option for this.
Organic Whole Wheat Flour -- this flour is from the midwest and is organic and whole grain.
Organic Spelt Flour -- one of my personal favorites, spelt is high in B vitamins and is naturally low in gluten. It has a nutty, sweet taste, and is great for bread and also cookies and muffins.
Organic Rye Flour -- rye is just an amazing flour. It is excellent for the digestion, boosting high amounts of both soluble and insoluble fiber.
OTHER
Unbleached Parchment Paper -- these are pre-cut sheets, which is super helpful.
Celtic Sea Salt -- mineral dense, sustainable, and delicious!
